Play 4 Development (P4D) is a non-profit organization that promotes youth development through sport by improving recreational facilities in low-income areas.
In the last decade, organizations such as the UN, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), government development agencies, sports federations, armed forces and the media have increasingly recognized and used sport as a low-cost and high-impact tool in humanitarian, development and peace-building efforts. However, the lack of safe and adequate sport and recreational facilities has presented significant challenges in the execution of such programs.
Play 4 Development recognizes that sport can no longer be considered a luxury within any society but is rather an important investment in the present and future, particularly in developing countries. With this goal in mind, P4D plays a major role in the building and re-designing of recreational zones, in low-income schools, parks, and local plazas, so that the youth can have a safe place to play and take advantage of the educational programs run in such facilities.
